Commissioning an Original
Commissioning a piece of art is a journey. You can decide to accompany the artist on the journey yourself or you can give him a road map and meet him at the end. Either way is exciting and fun, with the final destination being something completely unique and personal.
The first steps
If you decide to commission a piece of art, the first step is to find an Artist who's work or style you like. I get asked a lot by people who are commissioning work if I can paint from photographs and do family portraits, and although I can, I always refer them to a portrait painter, not because I do not want the commission of course, but would you want to force someone to travel with you? So find the artist who you like and then the hardest part of the process starts....
Contacting the Artist
This is, I am told, the most difficult stage. As with anything, making contact with a complete stranger with only a rough idea of what you might want can be daunting. On this website there are many ways to contact me, either by phone, text or email. The basics I will need is an idea of size, which will inform the price of the piece and then style. From there we can either meet personally or continue to correspond as you wish.
